 Web Statistics to Monitor Your Visitors
Designing, search engine optimization, programming, marketing and any other efforts you put into action does no good if you don't know when or if it is bringing you visitors or customers. There are many services out there that will either do this for you free or for a small fee each month and could be the greatest value for your dollar. If you don't know visitors' patterns, choices or even if you have visitors, then you won't be able to manage your site or increase your popularity with visitors.
Google Analytics is a free website tracking service that provides you with an overwhelming amount of data, but also very extensive graphs, reports and features. I personally use this service for my sites and a number of my clients because of the precise amount of information provided, their programming doesn't slow down my page loads and allows the ability to export the reports for me to share with others. Statcounter is another free service that provides excellent reporting and report abilities.
Looking to offer advertising space on your site or contract out included information? You will need to prove your traffic and the quality of that traffic to most advertisers that are considering spending money with you. Remember they are looking at it as an investment and they only want to spend money where they know they are going to get money in return. It is a good idea to keep these reports and statistics for future use in trending and in targeting more qualified visitors.
